Practice:
Before working on your own to forecast for the area, you should practice with a group. Look at the following situations and answer the questions provided. After you have practiced it will be time to create a real forecast.

Use the information from this lesson to answer the following questions. Take plenty of time to analyze the weather maps below. Discuss these examples with your group. After you answer the questions provided, look around the weather maps and find what type of weather conditions are occurring at a few other locations.

 

Answer questions 1 and 2 for the following graphic.
1. A large, strong area of high pressure is currently located over central Kansas. Which of the following would you expect in central Missouri?

a. wind out of the north or northwest
b. "fair" weather
c. thunderstorms
d. a and b are correct

2. In central Kansas the high pressure center is right overhead. Which of     the following would you expect to find in central Kansas?
a. cloudy skies
