Humidity

Hello, my name is Harry Hydrogen! And this big fellow is my good buddy Orson Oxygen. We are here today to tell you a little about ourselves and explain an interesting hobby that we have. We are atoms. Atoms are the building blocks of everything in the world, and the universe.

Hydrogen is the most common atom in the universe. It is in almost everything; water, peroxide, gasoline, plastics and even your body. Did you know that the Sun contains a large amount of Hydrogen?

Oxygen atoms like to bond with other atoms. When 2 Oxygen atoms bond, they form an "Oxygen Molecule". This is the form of oxygen that you breath in the air. When three Oxygen atoms bond, a molecule called "Ozone" is formed. Ozone is commonly found in the Stratosphere and blocks out some of the incoming sunlight. This keeps our temperatures a little cooler and blocks out some of the dangerous sunlight that damages our skin.

The real excitement begins when atoms bond with different types of atoms than themselves. When this happens, amazing things occur.

More than 70% of the human body is composed of water. Our muscles, skin, brains, intestines and even bones contain amazing amounts of water. That water is formed when two Hydrogen atoms get together with one Oxygen atom.

Our atmosphere has plenty of Hydrogen and Oxygen atoms. These atoms are usually busy doing other things but when atmospheric conditions are right, these atoms start to group up and form water.
