Earth rotates around the Sun

You might already know that the Earth revolves around the Sun but did you know that this helps to cause our seasons? When we combine the tilt of the axis of the Earth's rotation and the revolution of the Earth around the Sun, seasons begin to make sense.

June, 22 is called the Summer Solstice. On this date the Sun is shining most directly at the tropic of Cancer.

September, 23 is called the Autumnal Equinox. On this date the Sun is shining most directly at the equator.

December, 22 is called the Winter Solstice. On this date the Sun is shining most directly at the tropic of Capricorn.

March, 20 is called the Vernal Equinox. On this date, the Sun is shining most directly at the equator.
